The Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) are a global initiative established by the UN Global Compact and UN Women. The statement of support for the WEPs was signed by Taras Panasenko, Co-Founder and CEO of Aurora.
By endorsing these principles, our company takes another significant step toward ensuring gender balance and contributing to the global movement for women's empowerment in the workplace, in business, and across society. This commitment aligns with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
As of the end of 2023, Aurora employed a total of 12,562 people:
10,133 women (80.66%)
2,429 men (19.34%)
The WEPs Initiative Includes 7 Principles:
- High level of corporate leadership.
- Fair treatment of all women and men at work without discrimination.
- Support for the health, well-being, and safety of employees.
- Education and training for career advancement.
- Development of business, supply chains, and marketing practices.
- Support for community initiatives and advocacy.
- Evaluation and reporting.
What are the benefits of signing the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs)?
Signatories demonstrate better results in achieving gender equality compared to other companies. This positively impacts business development, increases consumer loyalty, improves working conditions, and helps build the image of a progressive, socially responsible company that cares about sustainable development, its staff, and the community.
Twenty-five Ukrainian companies have already signed the Women’s Empowerment Principles. As of now, Aurora is among them.
Signing the statement is only the first step. The next phase for the company is self-assessment. Following that are the development and implementation of an action plan to ensure gender equality, participation in training and public events, mentorship support, as well as monitoring, evaluation, and reporting, and review and continued implementation of the action plan.
