The Avrora multimarket chain continues its environmental initiative Avrora Green, aimed at promoting responsible battery disposal and recycling. In the first half of 2025, the project collected 1,527,750 used batteries and successfully recycled 1,582,650 units.

Avrora Green is implemented in partnership with BatterFly, a company responsible for transporting, sorting, and sending battery waste to recycling facilities in Poland. The recycled materials are used to manufacture components for pencils, computer equipment, medical devices, and aircraft.
The project’s key goal is to introduce and scale the use of specially designed battery-shaped collection boxes in Avrora stores. These boxes allow everyone to easily dispose of used batteries and contribute to environmental protection.
During the first quarter of 2025, Avrora stores collected 16,018 kg of batteries, of which 12,490 kg were recycled. In the second quarter, 14,537 kg were collected and 26,645 kg recycled. This brings the total collection volume for the first half of the year to 30,555 kg.
The leading regions in terms of battery collection were the Kyiv region (5,258 kg), followed by Kharkiv (3,280 kg), Poltava (3,089 kg), Dnipropetrovsk (3,023 kg), and Volyn (1,520 kg). In total, 896 stores participated in the initiative, including 10 stores that collected more than 120 kg each.
Since the project’s launch in December 2023, Avrora customers have collected 3,266,600 batteries, with 2,814,850 of them already recycled. Information about each recycled batch is available on the partner’s website.
Every Avrora store is equipped with a battery collection box displaying a QR code that links to the partner’s website, where customers can find detailed explanations about which types of batteries are accepted, what happens to them after collection, and real-time statistics on volumes collected and processed.
“Environmental initiatives are part of our corporate strategy. Battery recycling is our investment in a clean environment and in fostering a culture of sustainability. Such projects create value for both customers and the company,” says Natalia Izyumets, Quality Director at the Avrora multimarket chain.
Environmental responsibility is no longer just a trend — it is a necessity. Avrora provides customers with a simple and accessible way to make a meaningful contribution to environmental protection. The company is guided by principles of sustainable development and ecological responsibility, integrating advanced technologies and processes to minimize its environmental footprint.
