On March 19, the “Customs Platform 2026. Authorized Economic Operator Institution and NCTS as Tools of European Integration” took place, bringing together representatives of business, government, and international partners to discuss practical instruments for Ukraine’s customs integration into the EU and the further development of the customs system.
Petro Babii, Head of Customs Clearance and Regulation at Aurora, joined the panel discussion “NCTS as a Success Story. EU Transit Simplifications and ‘Border Without Queues’.” He shared Aurora’s practical experience in implementing the common transit system — from the first test operations to full-scale use of NCTS. Among the key outcomes are improved supply chain predictability, increased operational efficiency, and tangible economic benefits for the business.
The event also covered key areas of customs reform, including European integration as a strategic priority, the development of the AEO program, the implementation of the “customs visa-free regime,” and the harmonization of legislation with EU standards. During the high-level strategic session, it was emphasized that the customs chapter is one of the fundamental areas in Ukraine’s EU accession negotiations, as it directly relates to the free movement of goods.
Participants highlighted the positive progress in implementing European customs instruments in Ukraine. In particular, the number of companies obtaining AEO status and using customs simplifications, including transit procedures, continues to grow. This enables businesses to operate faster and more efficiently, while allowing customs authorities to focus on higher-risk operations.
The “Customs Platform” traditionally serves as a platform for open dialogue between government, business, and international partners. For Aurora, participation in such initiatives is an opportunity not only to share practical experience but also to contribute to shaping a modern, transparent, and efficient customs system aligned with European standards.
