Giving Blood, Making a Difference: Aurora Team Members Made Nearly 1,000 Donations in Six Months

Helping others is more than a one-time good deed. At Aurora, we believe it is about being there when people need us. This is how we approach blood donation — an initiative that has become an important part of our team culture.

For the fifth year in a row, we have been supporting the Blood Agents NGO and growing our own donor community. And it has come a long way: from 22 donations in 2021 to 1,259 in 2025. In the first six months of 2026 alone, our team made 995 blood donations, bringing the total since 2021 to 4,370.

Today, Aurora’s donor community brings together 925 of our people across Ukraine. Our team members take part in organized Donor Days, donate independently in their cities, and often take the initiative themselves, with store teams arranging group donations together.

At our Poltava Support Office, we held three Donor Days in the first half of 2026 together with the Poltava Blood Transfusion Station. We organize these group donations every 60 days, in line with the minimum interval required between whole blood donations.

“For Aurora, blood donation is not a one-time initiative. It is another way to be useful to those who need help most. We see our teams taking the initiative and organizing group blood donations themselves, and this is the best evidence that mutual support has become part of our corporate culture. Especially now, when every drop of blood can mean a life saved,” says Maryna Melnychuk, Executive Head of Social Initiatives within the CSR Department at Aurora multimarket chain.

Our team works across Ukraine, so donating blood is not limited to organized Donor Days. Aurora team members can join the initiative wherever they live — individually or together with colleagues.

Our partnership with the Blood Agents NGO is an important part of this work. Together, we have been able to scale the initiative and make blood donation more accessible and easier to understand for our people.

Blood donation became especially important to our team after the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion. Previously, our colleagues mostly donated when relatives, friends, or people they knew needed blood. After February 24, 2022, it became clear that the need was much greater and that our efforts had to become systematic.

Step by step, we have built a community of people at Aurora who care and are ready to act. For us, blood donation is one of the ways we can come together and help where our contribution can genuinely save lives.
