Mykhailo Onufer, Chief Veterans Officer of the Aurora multi-market chain, took part in the roundtable “Societal Support Projects by IT Companies: Successful Practices for Scaling.” The discussion focused on practical cases of societal support and solutions that have already proven effective and can be scaled.
Mykhailo shared Aurora’s approach to working with veterans. The focus is not only on supporting veterans’ adaptation within the company, but also on preparing the teams around them — because without this, integration simply doesn’t work.
That’s why Aurora launched internal courses such as “On the Same Wavelength with Veterans” and “Basics of the Defense Sector: How the Military Works.” These programs provide a foundational understanding of military service, the experience of returning to civilian life, and how to build respectful and effective communication. It’s about reducing tension, avoiding awkward situations, and making everyday interaction natural — without overcaution, but with respect.
These initiatives may not look громкими, but they make a real difference in day-to-day teamwork. This is the experience Aurora shares with other companies — so that such practices don’t remain isolated cases, but can be scaled further.
