Career path of Vitalii Malishevskyi, Category Manager for the “Fishing + Auto Products + Pet Supplies” division

Vitalii is someone who isn’t afraid of change and persistently moves toward his goal. Even while preparing this interview, he continued his career journey and has already taken on a new role — Category Manager.

His story is about the courage to start from scratch, about 10 interviews and meaningful support, about growth despite doubts. Vitalii proves: if you don’t give up — anything is possible.

How did your journey with Avrora begin?

Covid helped. I worked as a coach for 10 years, but due to the pandemic I had to change jobs. My wife was already working at Avrora and suggested I give it a try — why not?

What motivated you to keep moving up the career ladder?

At some point, I realized I had “outgrown” my role. I wanted to develop, to take on more responsibility. So I started applying for managerial positions in the distribution center.

What challenges did you face along your career path?

Overall, I went through 10 interviews: 9 in logistics and 1 in operations. After the ninth interview, doubts started creeping in — and, probably, a loss of confidence in myself.

I’m grateful to the recruitment team for passing my story and resume on to the Talent Development department.

After several meetings and career assessments, I was offered the opportunity to interview for the “Category Manager Assistant” position. I decided to take one last chance.

Why didn’t you apply for office positions right away?

It seemed to me that all the roles there were very specialized, and I didn’t have the necessary skills or knowledge. I also thought the large number of vacancies was due to high turnover, but it turned out the company is constantly growing, and the number of openings is due to team expansion.

What advice would you give to those who want to grow and develop at Avrora?

First of all: don’t give up! It’s important to remember that what’s meant for you is already waiting for you.

Second: don’t be afraid! I know many great employees who are afraid to submit their resume, to face rejection… I really wish people believed in themselves and understood that change isn’t something to fear.

Complete the sentence: For me, Avrora is…

…first and foremost, stability. We live in uncertain times, but I know for sure that I have a job today and will have one tomorrow, and I’ll receive my salary on time. If you need help — just ask, and you’ll get it. Because here, we truly are like a family. It’s great that everyone is friendly, and you can always get answers to any work-related questions — the key is simply to ask.
