Valentina’s journey with Avrora has been going on for 6 years: a part-time job during holidays turned into the best memories that continue to this day.
How did your journey with Avrora begin?
I was a student, finishing my 4th year, and looking for a part-time job during the winter holidays. An acquaintance of mine worked at Avrora as a picker and suggested I give it a try. I liked it so much that the “part-time job” turned into a 6-year journey. I took a 3-month break for my studies, but realized I wanted to return to my team. And I did come back to the same shift 😊
Did you consider positions at the Support Office?
Honestly, that thought never really crossed my mind — I had no work experience at the time. Besides, I was a student and really enjoyed the whole vibe at the warehouse. We were friends with colleagues outside of work too, spending time together. It felt easy and fun to the point that the physical workload didn’t even feel tiring.
What motivated you to move up the career ladder?
When I first joined Avrora, I was given a tour of the warehouse, where I was shown the merchandising department. I immediately thought: I want to work there someday. Three years later, a vacancy opened up in that department, and I applied right away.
In general, whenever I reached the point of “I know everything, I can do everything” in a role, it became my signal to move forward. It’s important for me to stay interested in my work — I love learning and developing.
Were there any challenges in your career path?
The decisions to transition into new roles were never difficult for me, as they were always well thought out, not impulsive. So I can’t recall any major difficulties.
However, it was challenging to adapt to the role of Category Manager’s Assistant. I even had moments of doubt, thinking, “maybe this isn’t for me.” But then I pulled myself together — everything can be learned, and learning doesn’t happen in just one day.
My manager supported me, and with her help I mastered all the necessary skills — and I continue to learn and grow.
What advice would you give to those who want to grow at Avrora?
Don’t be afraid! The world is moving so fast that standing still is almost impossible. Don’t be afraid to work outside your field of study or to try yourself in new areas. I have never regretted studying pedagogy, even though I don’t work as a teacher.
Finish the sentence: for me, Avrora is…
A significant part of my life! The company has been growing and evolving — and I’ve been growing with it. I don’t know what the future holds, but Avrora is about the best people, the best colleagues, and a truly unique atmosphere!
