Career path of Alina Dzhioshvili, Deputy Head of the Customer Service Center, Lviv

How did your journey with Avrora begin?

In 2022, I was looking for a job and came across an online ad for a sales assistant position at an Avrora store. I applied, went through the interview, and got hired — it was my first job after turning 18. I worked in the store for about a year and a half.

I liked the company, so I started encouraging my boyfriend to apply as well, but at the distribution center. That’s how we both began working at Avrora in Poltava.

About two months after he got hired, preparations began for opening a distribution center in Lviv. He went there on a business trip, worked for a while, and when a vacancy for Shift Supervisor in the order unloading department opened up, he immediately applied. He successfully passed the interview, and we decided to move to Lviv.

I applied as well, and on December 1, I started working as a merchandiser in Lviv.

How did your career develop further? Was it difficult to change direction — from retail to logistics?

I had a really great first impression — I had never worked in logistics before, and I liked it sooo much! Everything was new and unfamiliar: new systems, new people, product inspections — it was all very exciting. I worked as a merchandiser for 9 months.

Later, I saw an opening for a Warehouse Manager position responsible for supplier returns. I hesitated for a while about whether to apply: I consulted with my supervisor and with my boyfriend… And then I decided: if I get it — great! If not — it just means I need to grow and gain more experience. But I was lucky — I successfully passed the interview!

It was a completely new process for me again. I wouldn’t say it was very difficult, but of course, I was nervous.

Later, I was offered the position of Deputy Head of the unloading and loading department, and I gladly accepted!

What motivated you to keep moving up the career ladder — to change directions and take on new roles?

In retail, I started as a sales assistant, and when I moved to Lviv, I wanted change — something new. So I didn’t consider going back to store work; I saw my дальнейший розвиток specifically in logistics. And over time, I only became more certain of that. I want to continue growing in this field.

What do you love most about logistics?

I’ve had situations where friends asked me where I work, and when they heard “at a distribution center,” their reaction was “WOW.” It’s really amazing to see this huge, well-coordinated chain in action — how all the processes work: from receiving goods from suppliers to shipping them out to stores. I’m impressed by the масштаби роботи we handle!

You could say I’ve worked at Avrora twice 😊 In 2020, then I had a break and returned in 2022.

2020 was the peak of COVID, and I remember that period very clearly: everyone in masks, everyone stressed, afraid of getting sick. When we were cleaning the store, I even washed the door closers — it amused my colleagues 😊 We had a great team: cheerful, дружня, with a good sense of humor.

When I returned in 2022, it was somewhat easy on one hand because I already knew the main processes, but at the same time, a lot had changed. You could really feel the company’s growth: in just two years, the number of stores had multiplied! The processes became more structured and well-established.

Each of your new roles comes with greater responsibility. Were you aware that your level of responsibility was increasing each time? Was it difficult because of that?

Yes, of course. Every time I was approved for a new role, I felt really nervous. “What if I can’t do it?”, “What if I don’t manage?” — these questions always follow me. But at the same time, I’ve worked in teams and in a company where it’s not scary to make mistakes. If you don’t know something — you can ask a colleague or find someone who can help you figure it out. Everyone understands that you can’t know everything. And that really strengthens my belief in myself! I think the most important thing is to believe in yourself — and the rest I’ll figure out :)

What helps you stay on track when you change roles, have to learn a lot of new things, and when work gets “difficult”?

Honestly? It has never felt that hard for me. What really helps me learn new things is my visual and muscle memory — I write down absolutely everything new that I need to learn in a notebook.

Sometimes it happens that there’s too much information in my head, and that can be mentally tiring. But those are just occasional busy days, not long-term states. What really supports me is my team — they believe in me, and my husband always supports me too.

You’ve often said that the teams you worked in — and the Avrora team overall — are great. What do you think makes them that way?

For me, the most important thing is support within the team and building good, healthy relationships. I’ve been lucky to work in exactly such teams at Avrora.

More broadly, the Avrora team is a team (and a company) that gives a chance to anyone who truly wants it. There’s nothing to be afraid of: you’re supported and given the opportunity to grow in the way you want.

What advice would you give to those who want to grow at Avrora?

You have to try and not be afraid of rejection. All my interviews were very nerve-wracking — sometimes I wasn’t fully prepared, but I still went and tried. I believe that if it didn’t work out this time, it’s not a reason to give up. It will work out next time!

What has always driven me is the desire to prove to myself that I can do it — and that’s a really powerful motivation to keep moving forward.

What does Avrora mean to you?

For me, Avrora is a place where I’ve grown. I’ve felt that if I put in the effort and show myself — I’ll be noticed and supported. And I truly value that.

I like talking about where I work — I’m proud of it!
